Upright erect shrub. Dark purple bracts, black catkins, red-
orange anthers fade to yellow, creates a spectacular display
in spring. The stems also assume a rich purple-black
color in winter. The catkins are smaller than those of
typical Salix gracilistyla. Excellent in floral arrangements, background
borders.
