A creeping, moss-like, evergreen groundcover that can be used as a replacement for lawn in cool-summer regions. Irish Moss is especially beautiful growing between pavers and flagstones on a path or wall. It can also be used as an underplanting beneath taller plants. Delightful tiny white flowers appear atop the tight green carpet of foliage from late spring to midsummer.

The foliage will begin to brown if the plants get too dry. For best results, plant it in a container where moisture and light levels can be controlled.

Prefers an area with good drainage and a lightly fertile soil. Is sensitive to moist heavy soils. Prefer grit in the soil and dry, sandy, rocky places.
