Senecio Ragwort, Bigleaf Ligularia

Ligularia
Osiris Fantaisie

This attractive new hybrid Ligularia has heart-shaped, deep green leaves of a thick, rubbery texture. The serrated leaf margins are undulating, revealing the glossy, burgundy undersides of the leaves. Deep reddish purple stems add to the appeal.

In late summer, golden yellow, daisy-like flowers appear on purple stems just above the foliage. 'Osiris Fantaisie' PPAF makes an attractive specimen plant with nice clean foliage and a full habit. It was introduced by Serge Fafard of Quebec.

More Information

Ligularias are at their best when grown in cool, moist locations in part shade. Protection from the hot, afternoon sun in the south is essential to prevent wilting. They are a natural for the pond side where there is a constant supply of moisture, though they do require good drainage.

These plants need to be kept moist and grown in partial shade in hot areas. Prefer early morning and late evening sun.
