Do you guarantee your
products?
Yes.
At Circle H Growers, our goal is to provide you with the
best plant material and help you grow the best garden possible. We ship only the
finest garden products – strong, healthy and in peak
condition. If your plant has received our recommended care
and still does not perform to your satisfaction, please let
us know within 60 days of receipt, and we will replace it
free of charge, or refund your money, whichever you prefer.
-
All plants must have been ordered based on
our hardiness zone recommendations. Damage due to natural causes, weather,
personal negligence or otherwise, or conditions beyond our control is not
applicable.
We guarantee to ship plants that are true to name and in prime
condition for growing, to deliver them at the proper time for
planting, and to provide clear and reliable information
regarding the proper use and care of every item offered. If any
item fails to meet your expectations, we will cheerfully replace
or refund it.
The
size of the plants we ship has been selected to reduce the shock
of transplanting. For some, this may mean a large, bareroot crown.
Others cannot travel bareroot or transplant best if grown in
containers. We ship these plants in 3½"
or quart-sized pots, except as noted.
We must point out that some perennials may not bloom the first
year after planting but will the following year, amply rewarding
your patience.

How will

postal addresses, if applicable. Large or heavy items are
generally shipped via UPS. We ask that, when possible, you
please provide an address where a daytime recipient is
available.

The shipping charges seem excessive, what gives? Shipping
charges stated on your order invoice are not accurate at all times.
Circle H Growers makes every effort to
be certain correct and necessary measures are taken to ensure
proper S&H charges. In any case, if shipping charges do appear
excessive, and at times they may be calculated as such, Circle H
Growers will adjust the charges prior to charging your credit
card account. The correct S&H fees will be shown on your order
invoice.
Special Notice: As the cost of fuel continues
to affect everyone, shipping venders have recently raised
their rates. Unfortunately, this can happen more
frequently than normal and we cannot absorb the amount. We
attempt to ship as cost effectively as possible and will do
our best to keep shipping and handling rates as reasonable as
possible.

When will you ship my order? We ship plants at the right time for planting in
your area, with orders dispatched on a first-come, first-served
basis. However, this also depends upon
pending availability, weather conditions and associated plant
growth variables. Circle H Growers will not ship plant
material we are not happy with. As all varieties grow
differently, we may determine to hold certain plants until they
have achieved acceptable size and quality standards.
Hard goods are
shipped as soon as they are available, unless you provide other
instructions.
Your order may arrive in more than one
shipment.

Can I indicate when I want my order to ship?
If you need your order to arrive by a specific day, please tell
us when placing your order by entering your request in the
'Special Instructions' area when placing your order. We would
also recommend that you express or priority ship your order. This
will guarantee that your order will leave here within the next
two business days and will arrive within 2 to 3 business days
depending on the method of shipping you selected. We ship
weather permitting and when it is appropriate for your growing
zone.

you ship overseas or to Alaska, Hawaii, or Canada?
No, we can not ship any orders

HORTICULTURE
What zone am I in?
The National Arboretum offers the USDA
zone map online and it's quick and easy to determine your zone.
Top of Page
How do you determine "the proper time for
planting" in my area?
We ship orders on a first-come, first-served basis by
climate zone. The actual dates vary from year to year, depending
on weather and temperatures. We check national weather reports
daily during the shipping seasons.

When is the best time to transplant and divide
perennials?
The best time to divide perennials depends on your climate. Here
in Montana, it's usually mid to late April and early fall, from late August
through September. In colder climates, spring division is
preferred because it allows plants plenty of time to settle in
before winter. In hot-summer climates, fall is the best time to
divide; plants divided in spring may not become established
before the arrival of the heat. A few plants insist on their own
timetable. Peonies and Bearded Iris, for example, prefer to be
divided in late summer or fall. They won't bloom again until the
following year if divided in spring.

When do I use winter
protection?
In colder winter climates (Zone 6, -10F°, and colder), alternate
thawing and freezing of the soil in winter can heave the crowns
of newly planted perennials and small shrubs right out of the
ground, leaving their roots vulnerable to drying winds and
freezing cold. To protect plants from heaving during their first
winter, put a 4-6 inch layer of loose organic material such as
straw, leaves, or evergreen boughs (cut into 1-2 ft lengths)
over the crowns after the ground freezes. Take care to avoid
covering the evergreen foliage of plants such as Digitalis and
Dianthus. Remove this winter coverage gradually in spring when
frosts become infrequent, usually about the time Daffodils and
Forsythias are in bloom.

What if
I cannot plant my plants right away?
If you can't plant for a day or two, set the plants in a cool
place out of direct sun. Check plants for moisture. If the
packing material around the roots of a bareroot plant is dry to
the touch, moisten it and pour off any excess water. Do not
remove the packing material until you are ready to plant. If the
potting mix of a pot-grown plant feels dry, moisten it until
water drains freely from the holes in the bottom of the pot. Be sure to check plants for moisture every day that they are out
of the ground.
Top of Page
If you must wait more than 5 days to plant a bareroot plant,
we recommend that you give it a temporary home, a practice
called "heeling in." Dig a shallow trench in a lightly shaded
area, remove and discard the packing material, lay the roots in
the trench and cover them with soil. Then water thoroughly. With
proper care, heeled-in plants can remain in their temporary
quarters indefinitely.
Plants shipped in containers may remain in
their original pots outdoors for some time, as long as you keep
up with their need for water. Despite shorter days and cooler
temperatures in fall, the potting mix in a container can dry out
with surprising speed. Again, the sooner you plant, the better.
If for some reason you can't
put a plant just where you'd like, we recommend that you plant
it somewhere else in the garden for the winter. You can move it
to its permanent location in the spring.
